Opening with the thunderous sound of Miles Davis's muted trumpet, this is a masterpiece that shines brilliantly in the history of jazz. "It is fair to say that the legend of the Emperor of Jazz, Miles, began with this album. Kazunori Harada." This album is also noteworthy as a recording that captures the moment when the talents of an illustrious lineup, including the then nearly unknown John Coltrane and Red Garland, blossomed. DISC 1 begins with "Round Midnight", composed by Thelonious Monk, followed by Charlie Parker's "Ah-Leu-Cha", Cole Porter's "All of You", and Tadd Dameron's "Tadd's Delight", presenting the repertoire that Miles performed with his band at the time. The album was produced by George Avakian.
